NTTC president addresses members during COVID-19 crisis

March 30, 2020
Association intends to continue advocacy, education efforts; hold safety meeting, Tank Truck Week as slated

Dan Furth, president of National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC), told members in a letter posted on the NTTC website that the association will continue to engage in its advocacy and education efforts during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic; and events slated for later this year, including this summer’s Safety & Security Council Meeting, remain as scheduled, for now.

The Safety & Security Council Meeting is set for June 16-18, the Summer Membership & Board Meeting still is planned for Aug 6-8, and Tank Truck Week is slated for Oct 6-8.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and we are researching options for upcoming in-person events if the need for alternatives arises,” Furth said. “Any changes to scheduled programs will be communicated directly to attendees.”

Furth also said Tank Truck University remains a strategic priority during the novel coronavirus crisis, and the association soon will send out a survey intended to assist it in developing industry-specific content for members’ operations.

“As we move through 2020 and beyond, membership will continue to see expanded offerings from NTTC’s educational team focused on a variety of responsibilities within the tank truck segment,” Furth maintained.

For now, NTTC plans to continue managing day-to-day operations on a remote basis, as initiated March 16, Furth said, in an effort to protect the health of staff, consultants, members and visitors to the association’s Washington DC office. All calls, questions and concerns about operating in “this strange environment” are welcome.

“Thank you all for your understanding and support during these difficult times,” Furth concluded. “We know that your business models are largely affected during the crisis and we share your priorities in keeping our homes and workplaces safe, healthy and productive.

“Situations like this underscore the importance of the tank truck industry to the North American economy. We look forward to working with you and your teams as we do our part to defeat this insidious pandemic.”
