Michelin launches AI assistant to streamline fleet operations

The new tool transforms raw data into actionable reports through natural language queries, helping optimize fuel efficiency, vehicle maintenance, and operational costs with speed and security.

Key Highlights

  • Provides instant, natural language responses to operational questions via the MyConnectedFleet web portal.
  • Helps identify fuel-efficient drivers, maintenance needs, and cost trends quickly and accurately.
  • Ensures data security within a closed system, safeguarding sensitive fleet information.

Michelin Connected Fleet recently introduced a new AI assistant integrated into its MyConnectedFleet web platform that is designed to provide fleet managers with immediate answers to complex operational questions.

The tool aims to save managers hours of manual research by transforming raw fleet data into directly actionable insights, thereby accelerating decision-making and improving overall performance, the company reported.

The AI assistant serves as a digital partner for managers of bulk haulers, light-duty commercial vehicle, and other fleets. Users can submit natural language queries to receive reports or data on fuel consumption, driver behavior, and journey-related data. For example, the system can identify the most fuel-efficient drivers, pinpoint trucks requiring tire maintenance, or calculate monthly fuel costs in seconds.

“The AI Assistant is the natural evolution of our DNA, which is built around supporting our customers,” Sophie Foucque, CEO of Michelin Connected Fleet, Europe, Africa, and Australia, said in a news release. She also noted that the tool, co-developed with some of Michelin’s largest customers, offers an intuitive way to interact with vehicle data, allowing “augmented fleet managers” to focus more fully on the performance of their operations.

Key benefits of the system include:

  • Direct access: Available directly via the MyConnectedFleet web portal.
  • Immediate answers: Provides text or visual responses to questions about safety, costs, and identifying trends.
  • Data security: Designed as a closed system to ensure data confidentiality.

The tool leverages Michelin’s 130 years of mobility expertise and 30 years of data science, Michelin added. And it can be combined with other Michelin technologies, such as intelligent onboard cameras, automatic tire wear inspection, and underinflation alerts, to provide a comprehensive approach to fleet needs. The AI Assistant is now available to customers across multiple regions, including the United States and the U.K.

According to a recent Michelin survey, 78% of fleet managers believe AI will transform the transport sector—and the new assistant is positioned as a “true companion” to help managers navigate that digital transition.
