Safe Monitoring Group (SMG), a portfolio company of Alder and global provider of safety instrumentation and monitoring solutions, recently acquired Gastronics, a pioneer in wireless gas detection systems.

The addition marks the first North America-based company to join the SMG portfolio, which now includes eight gas detection brands and several value-add service companies, all focused on personnel safety and property protection, the company reported. The Gastronics acquisition expands SMG’s gas detection capabilities and strengthens its presence across industrial, commercial, refrigeration, and process markets.

“The acquisition of Gastronics significantly expands Safe Monitoring Group’s global footprint and positions us for accelerated growth in North America,” Kevin McKeigue, SMG Americas president, said in a news release. “Gastronics brings a strong customer base in both North America and the Middle East, while adding complementary gas-sensing technologies, detection solutions, and regulatory certifications that enhance our ability to serve industrial and energy markets worldwide.”

Founded on more than 25 years of innovation and product development, Gastronics’ solutions are trusted across a range of industries, including chemical processing, oil and gas, utilities, and critical infrastructure, where dependable detection and continuous monitoring are essential for safety, compliance, and operational continuity, SMG stated.

Gastronics pioneered the True Wireless gas detection system, enabling real-time gas monitoring from remote and hard-to-reach locations without the need for hardwired infrastructure.

“Joining Safe Monitoring Group is an exciting next chapter for Safe Monitoring Group and the Gastronics brand,” said Bud Dungan, Gastronics founder and CEO. “This transaction provides access to a global manufacturing platform, expanded supply chain capabilities, and a broad sales network. With a shared commitment to innovation, we look forward to accelerating new product development and expanding application-specific certifications across our portfolio.”
