Univar Solutions recently expanded its North American bulk chemical distribution network with the acquisition of KIK Consumer Products’ Lavo Bulk business in a transaction intended to bolster the global company’s footprint and supply chain capabilities in Eastern Canada.

Univar, headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois, operates one of the chemical industry’s largest private transportation fleets. It utilizes its extensive network of tank trucks and storage facilities to safely move hazardous and specialty materials. Integrating Lavo Bulk is expected to allow the distributor to leverage this existing logistical infrastructure and regulatory expertise to enhance routing efficiency and supply chain reliability for customers in the region.

“The addition of Lavo Bulk is a strong strategic fit with our business and our commitment to growing with key customers and critical suppliers in Canada,” Bob Craycraft, chief executive officer of chemical distribution and services for Univar, said in a news release. “We are pleased to welcome the Lavo Bulk team to Univar Solutions. Together, we look forward to building on their established expertise, relationships, and capabilities while continuing to deliver the safe, reliable service our customers expect.”

To maintain continuity within the highly regulated chemical supply chain, dedicated Lavo Bulk leadership and sales personnel are transitioning directly to Univar, the company reported. This integration is designed to preserve local knowledge and customer relationships without disrupting operations.

“We see meaningful opportunities to build on the strength of the business and deepen our relationships with customers and supplier partners across the region,” said Chris Halberg, Univar’s senior regional vice president of Canada and EMEA chemical distribution and services.

“Our immediate focus is on a smooth transition, supporting our new colleagues, and maintaining the high level of service customers have come to expect.”
