Badlands Tank Lines, headquartered in La Vista, Nebraska, recently acquired the Utah-based assets of Big Star Transportation in a move that expands the company’s operational presence in the Uinta Basin and strengthens its position as a premier provider of crude oil transport services.

Badlands plans to retain “the majority of” the Big Star employees currently supporting the Utah business, ensuring continuity of service and bringing valuable experience to the Badlands team, the company reported.

“Since our founding in 2011, Badlands has grown into the largest for-hire crude oil trucking company in the United States, serving every major oil-producing region,” Roger Johnson, Badlands president, said in a news release. “The addition of Big Star’s Utah operations strengthens our network, enhances our service capabilities, and brings talented drivers and staff into the Badlands family.

“We’re excited to build on their strong foundation and continue delivering safe, reliable transportation solutions for our customers.”

The Big Star acquisition is Badlands’ first since adding Equipment Transport and Marathon Petroleum assets in 2023.

The company also acquired the crude oil assets of Lunderby Trucking in 2022.
