The people behind Luma Brighter Learning, including co-founders Gina and Scott Anderson, recently published a collection of trucking-industry stories that convey the power of family values, trust, and legacy.

The transportation leadership playbook, “Powered by the People: Building Culture that Outlasts the Founder”—which delivers eight moving stories, including the century-long tale of LCL Bulk Transport—already has generated over 100 sales since debuting July 7 on Amazon, helping raise money for organizations that aim to strengthen the future of transportation.

“I’m so grateful to Bulk Transporter for connecting me to generational family-run companies in the trucking industry—companies like LCL Bulk Transport,” Gina, Luma’s CEO, told Bulk Transporter. “My goal in writing the book was always to capture the family stories that move our world forward. This book delivers their stories in chapters, beautifully illustrating their resilience and grit, and how they’ve reinvented themselves over the years—like LCL creating a tank trailer to haul chocolate. It’s amazing.

“All the proceeds from sales of the book are going to authors’ choice organizations in the industry. As of [July 20], we have sold 139 copies and made our first $500 donation to NextGen Trucking.

“I’m so excited to share these beautiful generational stories that show how our industry is truly powered by people.”

The eight stories in the collection are told by LCL’s Mary Schaupp, Ezzell Trucking’s Catherine Ezzell-Joiner, Leonard’s Express’ Elise Johnson, Pemberton Truck Lines’ John Pemberton, Nagle Companies’ Ed Nagle, Keizer Companies’ Brooklyn Keizer, Kottke Trucking’s Collin Kottke, and Transmark’s Garrett Knollman. The book includes a foreword from Gina and a chapter on legacy by Scott, Luma CTO. The industry authors chose the benefiting organizations, which include National Tank Truck Carriers’ Tank Truck Institute, the Tennessee Trucking Association’s Haulin’ for the Holidays initiative, and the Sampson Community College Foundation.

Powered by the People briefly reached No. 49 on Amazon’s list of top best-selling Leadership Training books a week after its launch.

“[This book] is about the fleets, founders, leaders, drivers, technicians, dispatchers, safety professionals, trainers, and every person who shows up each day to serve others through transportation,” Gina wrote in a launch-day LinkedIn post. “I know that behind every load delivered is a story. Behind every successful fleet is a culture. Behind every legacy is a person who chooses to lead with courage, grit, and heart.

“To every company that shared your journey with us: thank you for trusting us with your story. Your experiences, lessons, and values will now inspire future generations of leaders long after today’s work is done.”
