Jack F Schwerman, chief executive officer of Tankstar USA Inc, Milwaukee WI, was elected chairman of National Tank Truck Carriers on May 20 during the association’s 55th annual conference in New Orleans LA. He succeeds Harold Sumerford Sr, J&M Tank Lines Inc, who now will chair the NTTC executive committee.

A Wisconsin native, Schwerman holds a business degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He began his transportation career with the family company, Schwerman Trucking, following graduation from university in 1975. He was named president and CEO in 1982. In addition to his involvement with NTTC, Schwerman serves as a board member of the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association.

Tankstar USA consists of five subsidiaries, including Schwerman Trucking, and is focused on hauling specialty chemicals and dry bulk products. The other units are Rogers Cartage, North American Bulk Transport Inc, Wheatfield Trucking Co, and Bulk Logistics Inc. Total revenues are in excess of $110 million. Tankstar USA operates a combined fleet of more than 1,000 power units.
