Quality Carriers launches Quality Depot Solutions

The CSX-owned carrier’s first full-service tank container depot location is expected to begin operations later this month in the Houston area.

Quality Carriers is entering the depot business.

The CSX-owned tank truck carrier recently launched Quality Depot Solutions (QDS), which will provide full tank container depot services, including loaded and empty staging, container lifting, inspections and testing, maintenance and repair, cleaning, and final-mile trucking for shippers and receivers.

The first depot in Channelview, Texas, serving the core chemical market in the Houston area, is expected to begin operations in late September, the company reported.

“Our synergized business capabilities ensure we can share cost advantages with our customers and enable us to be extremely price competitive,” Randy Strutz, Quality Carriers president, said in a news release. “This also enables us to offer unique on-site depot solutions for our customers.”

QDS plans to deliver onshore support for the international transportation of ISO tanks at convenient locations near major ports and rail terminals across North America, the company added. Future QDS locations are planned the Gulf Coast, as well as the Midwest, East Coast, and West Coast.

“With our industry-leading chemical driver capacity, QDS is well poised to meet your depot needs with creative and cost effective solutions,” the carrier concluded.

Quality Carriers joined CSX railroad and launched new intermodal and multi-modal businesses in 2021, patented a new tank container aimed at the domestic market in early 2024, and began working with heavy-haul trailer manufacturer Kalyn Siebert to build sliding container chassis last fall.
