ACC: August resin production up from 2024

U.S. production of plastic resins totaled 9.2 billion lbs. in the month, and sales and captive use totaled 8.8 billion lbs., the American Chemistry Council reports.

U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 9.2 billion lbs. in August, a decrease of 0.5% compared to the prior month, and an increase of 2.9% compared to the same month in 2024, according to new statistics released by the American Chemistry Council

Year-to-date production was 68.4 billion lbs., a 1.0% increase as compared to the same period in 2024, ACC reported.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 8.8 billion lbs. in August, a 0.9% decrease compared to the prior month, and an increase of 4.0% from the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use were 68.2 billion lbs., a 1.0% increase as compared to the same period in 2024.
