ACC: August resin production up from 2024
U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 9.2 billion lbs. in August, a decrease of 0.5% compared to the prior month, and an increase of 2.9% compared to the same month in 2024, according to new statistics released by the American Chemistry Council.
Year-to-date production was 68.4 billion lbs., a 1.0% increase as compared to the same period in 2024, ACC reported.
Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 8.8 billion lbs. in August, a 0.9% decrease compared to the prior month, and an increase of 4.0% from the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use were 68.2 billion lbs., a 1.0% increase as compared to the same period in 2024.
