U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 8 billion lbs. in April, a decrease of 8.7% compared to the prior month, and a decrease of 2% compared to the same month in 2024, according to new data from the American Chemistry Council.
Year-to-date production was 33.1 billion lbs., a 0.4% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 8.1 billion lbs. in April, a decrease of 6% compared to the prior month, and a decrease of 3% from the same month one year earlier.
Year-to-date sales and captive use were 33 billion lbs., a 1.3% decrease compared to the same period last year.
