The National Tank Truck Carriers elected John Whittington as the organization’s new chairman at the NTTC’s recent annual meeting in Toronto, Ontario.

Whittington succeeds Lee Miller, CEO of Miller Transporters in Jackson MS, who now serves as chairman of the NTTC’s executive committee.

“I am proud to serve as the next chairman of NTTC,” Whittington said. “These are good times for trucking and I believe that our organization is well-positioned to champion the tank truck industry’s commitment to safety and success for its carriers.

“I look forward to working with our entire membership and our many allies to accomplish great things for our industry.”

Whittington currently is vice president of government affairs and special projects for Grammer Industries and its subsidiary, Vickery Transportation.  Founded in 1968, Grammer specializes in bulk transportation of anhydrous ammonia, liquefied petroleum gases, carbon dioxide, nitric acid, cryogenic liquids and other products for a wide variety of agricultural and industrial customers.

He’s a passionate advocate for the trucking industry, having previously served as the chairman of the Indiana Motor Truck Association (IMTA) and the Agricultural Food Transporters Conference of the American Trucking Associations (ATA).  He is a serial entrepreneur who is actively involved in a variety of business interests, including trucking, transloading, renewable fuels production and real estate development.

Whittington is a graduate of Purdue, where he earned his B.S. in Agricultural Business Management.
