Suttons Tankers, part of the UK-based Suttons Group, reports “significant” development within its industrial powders segment, which secured more than $12.4 million (£10 million) worth of bulk powders business over the last 12 months.

The key win was securing Alpek Polyester’s business at its Stockton, England, depot, where the petrochemical company loads PET from Wilton and delivers the “business-critical” product across the country. Sutton also renewed its INEOS PVC contract for a further three years and subsequently won a new contract with INEOS Olefins and Polymers, strengthening its longstanding partnership with the INEOS brand.

“I am delighted that we are emerging into a new, growing sector,” Michael Cundy, managing director of Suttons Tankers, said in a news release.

“The recent wins, supported by our appointment of Stephen Cooper to head up the sector [as commercial manager for powers], demonstrates our commitment to making further advancements, and providing new and existing customers with bespoke solutions and outstanding levels of service.”

The procurement of a new site in Featherstone was material to recent wins, the company added, enabling Suttons to offer a trucking operation that adds value by bringing efficiencies to its customers. Sutton also expects to continue expanding its U.K. footprint to facilitate further growth of its powders segment.

The division’s expansion includes a $4.96 million (£4 million) investment in 13 tractors and 27 tanks for hauling powders.
