Florida Rock & Tank Lines (FRTL) recently named Steve Shipes its John R Mabbett Driver of the Year for 2020.
Shipes received a plaque and a crystal tank truck for his efforts.
“Steve has been a hardworking FRTL driver out of our Albany terminal since July 2, 1985,” the company said in a Facebook post. “It’s been an exciting journey over the past 36 years. He has an outstanding work ethic and represents Florida Rock & Tank Lines so well.
“It’s easy to celebrate a driver dedicated to his own safety, the safety of others, and his passion for the job.”
FRTL, in business since 1962 and headquartered in Jacksonville FL, operates 21 terminals and boasts numerous truck domicile locations throughout the Southeast. The company’s tank truck fleet includes more than 400 tractors and 500 trailers.
The carrier won National Tank Truck Carriers’ top safety award in 2011, securing the association’s Outstanding Performance Trophy with an accident frequency of .340.
