Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) is continuing to recognize and promote safety in the trucking industry by partnering with Volvo Trucks to award the 2011 Volvo Trucks Safety Award. The two category award winners will be announced at the American Trucking Associations’ annual Management Conference & Exhibition in October 2011, and each fleet will receive a plaque of recognition and $25,000.
“Michelin and Volvo Trucks are committed to increasing safety in the trucking industry, and helping fleets comply with the Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration,” said Jaye Young, country marketing manager, MATT. “A great way to promote safety is to point out the fleets that are doing things right and encourage others to take note of their practices to improve overall safety.”
The program consists of awards in two divisions and is based on driving records from calendar year 2010. Division 1 is for fleets that annually traveled up to 20 million miles, while division 2 is for fleets that traveled more than 20 million miles annually. Fleets operating at least five Class 8 tractor units in the United States or Canada are eligible, but only fleets operating with at least one Volvo tractor are eligible. Previous Volvo Safety Award winners are not eligible to win.
