ArvinMeritor Inc held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate construction of an information technology (IT) center in Columbus IN. The 48,000-square-foot facility, which will house nearly 100 employees initially, will be a major hub in the company's network of worldwide IT capabilities that includes sites in Europe, South America, and Troy MI.
Perry Lipe, senior vice-president and chief information officer for ArvinMeritor, said the center represents an $8.5-million investment for ArvinMeritor and will consolidate Columbus-based IT resources into a new facility. Once completed, the facility will link with companion ArvinMeritor IT centers in Amsterdam, Holland; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Troy.
In support of the project, the Indiana Department of Commerce granted up to $1.4 million in Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credits and $100,000 from the Skills Enhancement Fund.
