HOYER adding to tank container fleet

June 4, 2014

Hamburg, Germany-based logistics company HOYER is expanding its tank container fleet by another 3,450 units by the end of 2016. As a result, the full-service provider will be fully prepared for medium- to long-term growth in the field of international liquid transports.

The HOYER Group is one of the largest tank container operators in the world and with approximately 32,000 tank containers is comprehensively equipped for intermodal transport. The logistics service provider is systematically expanding this position even further. This year HOYER will invest in 250 new tank containers with a capacity of 24 cubic meters (6,340 gallons). And for 2015 and 2016 new orders already have been placed for a total of 3,200 tank containers from leading manufacturers.

“Our tank containers are in big demand with our customers”, says Ulrich Graupe, head of equipment management at HOYER. “By systematically expanding our transport equipment, we are creating good conditions for future growth in global intermodal transportation.”

Demand for tank containers with a volume of 26 cubic meters in particular is growing on the transport market. HOYER has ordered 1,000 of these with baffles and 900 without baffles for the next two years.

The HOYER Group also has the right equipment available for smaller transport volumes. In 2015 and 2016, another 700 tank containers with a capacity of 24 cubic meters and 600 tank containers with a capacity of 21 cubic meters (5,547 gallons) will be manufactured for this purpose.
