JJ Keller launches free ERG app

The new easy-to-use new digital resource is designed to support enhanced emergency response preparedness by complementing the required Emergency Response Guidebook.

J.J. Keller & Associates recently introduced a free ERG app that is now accessible in the Apple App and Google Play stores.

The new J.J. Keller ERG App provides fast, reliable digital access to the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG), complementing the printed guide required by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, and supporting emergency readiness anytime, anywhere.

Designed for use by drivers, emergency responders, and hazardous materials professionals, the ERG app delivers the same trusted content in an easytonavigate digital format, ensuring critical information is always within reach, even in highpressure situations, J.J. Keller reported.

The app also aligns with the PHMSA’s proposed rule allowing electronic access to emergency response information, in addition to the required printed ERG. By pairing print and digital resources, organizations can enhance preparedness while supporting regulatory compliance.

“Having emergency response information available in multiple formats adds an extra layer of readiness,” Laura Johnston, J.J. Keller associate director of digital commerce, said in a news release. “This free app makes it easier to access the ERG quickly in the field. It doesn’t replace the printed guide; it strengthens its effectiveness.”

Key features of the J.J. Keller ERG App include:

  • Simple navigation: Indexed, colorcoded, and easy to use
  • UN number search: Quickly find the correct guide
  • Visual identification tools: Help identify hazardous materials at a glance
  • Complete ERG content: Full ERG available anytime
  • Offline access: No cellular signal required
  • Light and dark modes: Readable in any lighting conditions
