Idaho bulk haulers were among the beneficiaries of the $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill passed in earlier in December. A provision in the bill allows Idaho to raise truck weight limits to 129,000 pounds on interstate highways in the state.
Idaho had been limited to a maximum gross weight of 105,500 pounds since the federal government froze state weight limits in 1991. Idaho Trucking Association officials said the change will put Idaho on equal footing with bordering states Utah, Montana, and Nevada.
