The Kenan Advantage Group Inc (KAG) announced that Kelvin Covington has joined the company as vice-president of private fleet conversions. He previously was managing director of Kelvin Covington Consulting (KCC), an oil and gas industry consulting firm.

Patriot Transportation Holding Inc announced that Thompson S Baker II, its board chairman and chief executive officer, has resigned his CEO position to accept a new position as senior vice-president of Vulcan Materials Company. Baker will continue to serve as Patriot’s board chairman. In turn, the board has promoted its vice-president, Robert E Sandlin, to the president and CEO position.

The Supervisory Board of Daimler AG has appointed Martin Daum as a member of the Board of Management with responsibility for the Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses divisions. He succeeds Dr Wolfgang Bernhard, who is voluntarily leaving the company for personal reasons. Since June 2009, Daum has been president and CEO of Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) and its companies Freightliner Trucks, Western Star Trucks, Thomas Built Buses, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation and Detroit Diesel Corp.

Navistar International Corporation announced the appointment of Persio V Lisboa, president of operations, as executive vice-president and chief operating officer, effective immediately. In addition, Steven K Covey, senior vice-president and general counsel, is retiring after 36 years with Navistar. Curt Kramer, currently associate general counsel and corporate secretary, will succeed Covey effective April 1, 2017.

Al LaRhette is retiring after 10 years as Ridewell Suspensions’ regional sales manager for the Northeast and more than 50 years in the industry. Succeeding him is Bill Buchamer, who has 25 years of transportation industry experience. He previously served as district sales manager for Hendrickson International.

OPW, a Dover company, has named Kevin Long as the company’s new president. He joined Dover in 2014 as the president of Colder Products Company (CPC).

Rick Phillips, current vice-president of sales, is leaving Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC) after almost two decades to pursue other opportunities.

Polar Corporation has appointed Mike Besson as president of Polar Service Centers. He was previously employed by Rush Enterprises for more than 21 years, most recently as managing vice-president of service and body shop operations.

​SmartTruck has appointed John Brown vice-president of sales and marketing. He joins SmartTruck from a prominent truck parts provider for the heavy-truck industry, where he served as director of sales. Vern Scheuplein joins SmartTruck as director of dealer development, a newly created position. Charles Debboutis the new regional sales director for the Southeast United States. Most recently, he served as director of sales at Falcon Fastening Solutions. Ron Pope has been promoted to the newly created position of vice-president, strategic accounts at SmartTruck.

​Tremcar has appointed Brian Yocum as a regional sales manager for Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and New York south of Albany. With considerable experience in the oil and gas industry, he will represent Boston Steel and Tremcar USA. Tremcar also named Jay Parler as a regional sales manager for North and South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee. With 15 years of experience in heavy-duty part, he has worked more than 15 years for Transcend Trailer Leasing.

has promoted four staffers—Dan Duggan, Henry Hanscom, Joe Hite and John Lynch—to new leadership positions. Duggan was promoted to director of sponsorships and exhibits from his previous position of manager of sponsorships and exhibits. Hanscom was named new vice-president of legislative affairs. An ATA staffer since 2013, he has since 2014 been director of legislative affairs. Hite was named new vice-president of business development. He has been with ATA since 2007, most recently as director of event development. Lynch was named new senior vice-president of federation relations and industry affairs. Lynch has been with ATA since 2006, most recently as vice-president of federation relations and intergovernmental affairs. Tim Smith has been hired as ATA’s new vice-president of creative services and creative director and Julia Grove as director of marketing. Smith was previously an art director with the National Restaurant Association. Grove comes to ATA after more than seven years at SkyBitz Inc, where she was most recently senior marketing manager. ATA also announced a leadership change at its largest council—the ATA Technology and Maintenance Council, which has named longtime TMC technical director Robert Braswell as the organization’s acting executive director. He replaces Carl Kirk, who has left the organization. Braswell has been with TMC for 25 years, working in all aspects of the organization.
