The American Trucking Associations (ATA) Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) presented its Excellence in Maintenance Supervision Award to Ricky Barker, region shop and fleet manager for Trimac Transportation, during TMC’s 2014 annual meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition, held in Nashville TN recently.
A Fairburn GA resident, Barker oversees 15 locations, eight shops, 45 technicians, and more than 350 trucks and 450 trailers. His supervisor is Jeff French, region 503 manager. Barker was nominated for the award by Randy Tumbarello, US maintenance director for Trimac Transportation.
Barker has produced results and consistently demonstrated Trimac’s values while simultaneously operating from an empathetic perspective, said Tumbarello.
Candidates for this award were all employed in direct supervision of maintenance technicians and exhibited superior performance in equipment maintenance supervision. Higher levels of management are not eligible for the award.
Any company interested in submitting a nominee for next year’s Excellence in Maintenance Supervision Award should submit to TMC staff a brief essay (500 words) on why the nominee should be selected. Copies of supporting documentation such as certifications, commendation letters, and awards may be submitted with the nominating essay. A special panel of TMC leaders selects award winners each year. This year’s panel included Chairman Jim Staats, Wiers Fleet Partners; Kevin Otto, Cummins; and Doug White, Dunbar Armored.
Nominations should be submitted to TMC Selection Panel, Excellence in Maintenance Supervision Awards, c/o: Technology & Maintenance Council, American Trucking Associations, 950 N Glebe Road, Arlington VA 22203.
