Vehicle safety specialist Rear View Safety (RVS) recently unveiled its “total fleet safety solution” called Trong, a compact, mobile DVR that installs on a vehicle’s windshield.
The advanced system features two 1080P full HD, wide-viewing-angle cameras that simultaneously record the operator and the road ahead, RVS said. Built-in GPS records vehicle location and driving route, and the footage saves on two Micro SD cards with a total storage capacity of 512 gigabytes. It also includes a USB input for connecting an external hard drive up to 2 terabytes.
“We wanted a comprehensive safety solution that was ready out of the box, but could also be easily customized,” said Horace Meshchaninov, Rear View Safety’s marketing director. “Fleets, especially smaller fleets, wanted a fully integrated option for their vehicles.”
Trong is equipped with a driver camera (180° viewing angle) and a road camera (150° viewing angle), and easily can be extended to include two more camera inputs, a monitor input and multiple triggers, the company said. Both configurations include live video remote viewing, secure recording and GPS tracking. “It’s just a different kind of system, one that the fleet market has been requesting for a while,” Meshchaninov said. “And it installs in just five minutes.”
This system provides live remote viewing via connection to a Wi-Fi hotspot in the vehicle, or using a SIM card for 4G connection. Trong is compatible with jetpacks from all major carriers, RVS said. Perfect for fleet tracking (as a GPS tracker) and fleet management, the DVR allows personnel to view and download footage while the vehicle is on the road.
Trong comes in two configurations, the Trong-T and the Trong-TE, which includes an extender that adds two more AHD camera inputs, an RCA monitor inpu, and multiple triggers.
