Broco to deliver renewable diesel in Massachusetts
Broco Energy will deliver renewable diesel to the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) through a new partnership that includes transitioning Massport’s storage tank to renewable diesel across its various facilities.
Their collaboration marks a step forward in Massport’s mission to reduce its carbon footprint and advance environmental stewardship within the Commonwealth through cutting-edge carbon reduction solutions, Broco reported. The fuel tanks Broco is transitioning to 100% renewable diesel are at critical Massport locations, including Conley Terminal, Boston Logan International Airport, Hanscom Air Force Base, and Worcester Regional Airport.
Renewable diesel, a cleaner-burning fuel derived from sustainable sources, offers a significant reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions compared to traditional petroleum diesel, Broco added.
“We are truly honored to partner with Massport on this vital initiative,” Robert Brown, Broco president, said in a news release. “As a company deeply committed to advancing clean energy in New England, we’ve been diligently preparing for this. Building on our strong performance since January 2024, when we first started performing on the pilot program, and working closely alongside Massport’s OEM, we’ve made significant investments in new upgrades to our facility, enabling the ability to injection blend renewable diesel. This careful preparation, combined with our unique fixed storage and blending capabilities, allows us to provide a seamless and efficient transition for Massport.
“We believe this collaboration is a humble yet important step toward a more sustainable future for our region, showcasing what can be achieved when organizations commit to effective carbon-reduction solutions.”
