NTTC elects Brian Wood 2016/2017 chairman

The National Tank Truck Carriers Inc (NTTC) announced April 26 that Brian Wood was elected as the organization’s new chairman of the board at the association’s annual conference in San Diego CA. Wood succeeds Harold Sumerford Jr, chief executive officer of J&M Tank Lines Inc, who now becomes chairman of the NTTC’s executive committee.

“I appreciate the legacy built by my predecessors in leading the NTTC,” Wood said. “It is my intention to continue to build on that strong foundation. This new role as your Chairman is not something that I take lightly. There were many great industry leaders that have served in this important position and I look forward to working with my fellow carriers as we solidify the NTTC's advocacy and education initiatives.”

Wood also is president of Transwood ( Based in Omaha NE, TransWood is a family owned enterprise that has been in the dry and liquid bulk transportation business since 1928, steadily growing by nurturing customer relationships and focusing on surpassing customer expectations.

National Tank Truck Carriers is a trade association composed of over 550 companies that specialize in bulk transportation services by cargo tank throughout North America. The tank truck industry generates roughly 5.1% of all truck freight revenue, but that represents 25.6% of all truck freight in terms of tonnage due to the heavy nature of the liquid bulk products handled.
