A&R Logistics announces truck purchases for 2016

Dec. 16, 2015

A&R Logistics announced December 15 that it was purchasing 48 new tractors that are fully compliant with new federal standards for fuel efficiency and greenhouse-gas emissions required for heavy-duty vehicles, model years 2014 through 2018. The total cost was approximately $7 million.

The 2017 model Freightliner Cascadias will be delivered in the second and third quarter of 2016. Featuring 72-inch sleepers and air disc brakes for shorter stopping distances, these trucks will be 5% more fuel efficient than pre-2010 engines and are equipped with several driver comfort features including a refrigerator, on-board bunk heater, and satellite radio connections.

A&R’s Chief Executive Officer, Mark Holden, said, “Our latest new-truck acquisition represents a sizeable investment—and the Company’s ongoing commitment to upgrading both our rolling stock and our terminal and warehouse facilities. We make this investment to enable us to better serve existing customers and new ones, as well. This is what successful growth demands.”

Most of the trucks will replace existing vehicles, bringing A&R Logistics’ fleet to approximately 750 vehicles. Over the past two years, the company has invested more than $27 million in the purchase of new trucks reinforcing the commitment to maintaining one of the safest and youngest fleets in the industry.
