The average price of diesel fuel nationwide increased for a fourth straight week, rising 7.8 cents from a week ago to $2.352 a gallon—its highest level in 2009—according to Department of Energy information.
This marks a 15.1-cent increase in the past month, and the price of trucking’s main fuel has climbed 33.5 cents since mid-March.
The latest price is still $2.355 less than the same week a year ago, when diesel was rising toward its $4.764 record established in July 2008.
