Ruan Transport Corp, Des Moines IA, is hauling water, food, and other supplies for residents in the Gulf Coast area who were affected by Hurricane Gustav, according to Ruan information.
"FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Administration) knows when there’s a need, we’ll respond," Roger Marlow, Ruan vice-president and regional manager, stated in a news release. "Ruan’s fleet can quickly and efficiently get essential items to the people who need them, and we’re happy to do it."
The project is in partnership with FEMA and Target Corp. Thirty Ruan tankers delivered clean water to a Home Depot warehouse in Lafayette LA for distribution to citizens and businesses.
A Ruan truck also picked up 14 pallets of food and comfort items from the Cedar Falls IA Target distribution center and delivered them to the Minneapolis MN Convention Center. Target, in partnership with the Red Cross, is donating more than $300,000 in product for relief packages to support Hurricane Gustav relief assistance. The packages were assembled by volunteers and delegates attending the Republican National Convention in the Minneapolis/St Paul area.
Ruan first worked with FEMA in 2003 when storms battered Florida and assisted in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. Ruan and Target also partnered to provide relief supplies to residents of tornado-stricken Manhattan KS earlier this summer.
