The Dupré Site Services operation at the Dow Chemical Plaquemine LA plant was recently recognized for flawless Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety performance for 2007 and was presented “The Gold Washer Award.” This award is given by Dow Chemical for being OSHA-free for 2007.

“I want everyone to know how proud we are of the entire staff here in Plaquemine for making this happen three years in a row,” said Larry Ruggiero, Dupré site operations manager. “The Gold Washer is significant because of the meaning behind a washer. When a washer is used together with a nut and bolt, it applies equal pressure to the entire joint. This means full involvement by everyone on our team. It also indicates a ‘zero’ — for no OSHA reportable in 2007.”

With annual sales of $54 billion and 46,000 employees worldwide, Dow is a diversified chemical company that combines the power of science and technology with the human element to constantly improve what is essential to human progress. The company delivers a range of products and services to customers in around 160 nations.
