United Petroleum Transports and Florida Rock and Tank Lines are raising driver pay.
The sister companies plan to increase compensation by up to 20% in a “historic” move for all their combined drivers, the two carriers reported, reflecting their commitment to recognizing the talent, professionalism, and dedication of the professional at the heart of their success.
“We’re excited to roll out this new pay increase for our company drivers for the safe and professional work they do,” Matt Herndon, UPT president and CEO, said in a news release. “Our professional drivers represent this company every day and always do their job with safety at the top of their mind.
“We are committed to rewarding them for the safe, professional work they do and the value they bring to our organization and this industry.”
The exact percentage of the increase depends on driver’s region of operation, the companies said. The new pay structures are expected to “further distinguish” UPT and Florida Rock in the markets where they operate. In certain markets, they expect to establish themselves as pay leaders, strengthening their ability to attract and retain the industry’s most talented drivers.
“This company driver pay increase is also an important component of our long-term growth strategy,” Herndon concluded. “A stronger professional driver workforce will provide us with the capacity needed to pursue further diversification and expand and strengthen the company’s legacy fuel and chemical business lines.”
