Jeff O’Connor plans to retire from his position as chief operating officer at Heniff Transportation Systems next month.

The change is expected to take effect May 31, Heniff reported.

As part of a planned leadership succession, Scott Templeman, who currently serves as Heniff president, will replace O’Connor; and Steve Lowman, current senior vice president of operations, will succeed Templeman.

“On behalf of the entire organization, I want to thank Jeff for his many contributions to our success,” Bob Heniff, Heniff founder and CEO, said in a news release. “Jeff’s leadership is evident in our company’s culture, the development of our people, and our unprecedented growth and financial performance.

“I wish him and his family the very best in his coming retirement.”

Templeman joined the company in October 2002 and has directed the operations team from its early stage to today’s high level of performance. He brings over 30 years of executive experience in supply chain logistics to his new role.

“Scott is the perfect candidate to serve as our next COO,” O’Connor said. “He’s a valued partner, a proven leader, and one of the best operators in the business. I’ve been fortunate to work side by side with Scott on a daily basis as we’ve built this company into the recognized industry leader it is today.”

Lowman came to Heniff from Superior Bulk Logistics in December 2019, bringing with him over 29 years of bulk transportation experience. He started his career as a driver for Miller Transporters before advancing into dispatch, terminal management, regional operations, and ultimately Heniff’s SVP of operations.

“I’m really pleased to see Steve take on his new role as our president,” Heniff said. “The breadth of Steve’s tank truck experience gives him a unique view of safety and service that will greatly benefit the whole organization.”
