One of the quickest ways to have equipment pulled over for a roadside inspection is to an obvious equipment defect that could have been fixed before the tractor and trailer hit the road. With Comprehensive Safety Accountability (CSA) now getting into full swing, the importance of good equipment maintenance has become an even stronger priority. FMCSA Associate Administrator for the Office of Enforcement and Program Delivery Bill Quade, will discuss CSA issues during his keynote address Tank Truck Show & Maintenance Seminar October 24-26 in Louisville KY.
The recently issued NTSB rollover report and recommendations will be covered in detail by staff and a panel of rollover stability control systems providers. The seminar also will feature sessions by industry segments including petroleum, chemical, food grade, and dry bulk where any issues regarding maintenance and safety are fair game for discussion.

Regulatory Update – Key personnel from FMCSA and PHSMA will provide a presentation with regulatory updates of the rules that affect our industry on a day-to-day basis.
Truck Trailer Manufacturers’ Report – TTMA will lead an important discussion on tank truck engineering developments. Manufacturer representatives will discuss timely issues with the supplier and motor carrier attendees.
Cargo Tank 101: An Interactive Workshop – Industry leaders will participate in a panel discussion of cargo tank topics, including regulations and terminology. Panel will cover vent testing, in-service minimum thickness and other operational and preventive maintenance concerns.
FRP Trailers – A panel of industry experts will address what carriers need to know about these trailers. Manufacturers, test and inspection facilities, fleet owners and the enforcement community will all benefit and take part in this discussion.
Tractors: 2014 Mandate to Reduce Fuel Consumption and Emissions – Engine specialists will discuss this new national program. Interactive in nature, fleet owners will also contribute to the discussion on Class 8 tractors in tank truck service.
Workers on Tanks & OSHA’s Ambitions – Trailer manufacturers and carriers will discuss proactive ideas to address safety concerns and potential regulation related to fall protection.
