The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) and Volvo Trucks Canada recently named Alchemist Specialty Carriers (ASC) driver Darcy Knowles the 2023 National Driver of the Year during the BC Trucking Associations’ Christmas party.
Knowles boasts more than 30 years of experience in trucking, including 11 accident-free years.
“People are the heart and soul of any organization and when you have people like Darcy Knowles working within your company, you know you are doing something right,” Glen Parsons, ASC owner and president, told Bulk Transporter. “Darcy lives and breathes ASC and looks after it as if he is an owner. We are also very fortunate to have a large contingent of drivers that are the same caliber and should all be named ‘Drivers of the Year’ and we are thankful for all of them.
“We understand what makes ASC successful and proudly display it on our trailers: ‘Our drivers—our success.’”
Knowles previously collected British Columbia’s top driver award last year. He emerged as Canada’s premier driver this year because of “his camaraderie and a knack for bringing a smile to everyone he encounters,” CTA said in a news release.

Volvo Trucks Canada sponsors the country’s national and provincial Driver of the Year awards. The National Driver of the Year is selected by a panel of judges that includes representatives from Transport Canada, the Traffic Industry Research Foundation, Canada Safety Council, and CTA.
