Owner-operator Eric Marshall, who also helped grow company’s Birmingham terminal by 11 trucks, earns title, $5,000 check

Usher Transport recently named owner-operator Eric Marshall its 2021 Driver of the Year.

Marshall has been leased to Usher since March 2018 and currently works out of the company’s Birmingham, Ala., terminal. He was selected from a pool of four candidates who last year were named Driver of the Quarter.

Eric Mink, Usher’s chief operating officer, Jess Gosman, vice president of sales, and Heather Denning, director of petroleum operations, were on hand to crown Marshall as Driver of the Year. He also received a check for $5,000 and a commemorative plaque.

“Eric demonstrates exceptional commitment to his profession while maintaining Usher Transport’s standard of holding safety in the highest regard,” the company said in a release. “His time with Usher Transport has been one of immense dedication, and an exceptional career as a professional truck driver.”

Besides his tireless efforts as a driver, Marshall also helped the Birmingham terminal grow despite the driver shortage, bringing on an additional 11 trucks, with drivers for each one.

“Eric is a major advocate for his fellow drivers and a representative of all the dedicated, patriotic, and faithful people that make up the trucking industry,” Usher said. In recognition of your outstanding performance, superior dedication, and positive attitude on the job throughout the past year, congratulations.”
