Cottingham & Butler opens trucking compensation survey for 2022

Annual benchmark report, with breakout tank/bulk data, a valuable tool for carriers amid increasingly competitive driver recruitment, retention landscape

Cottingham & Butler recently launched a survey for the 2022 edition of its Annual Trucking Compensation & Benefits Benchmark Survey Report, which includes the only comprehensive breakout of data for the tank/bulk segment.

The deadline to complete the survey is Feb. 25.

“Our firm works with over 2,000 motor carrier clients, and the changes we have seen over the past 10 months in terms of compensation, bonuses, and benefit package enhancements have been absolutely insane,” said Kim Beck, vice president of benefits consulting at Cottingham & Butler. “So I’m excited to see how it will impact our report this year.”

Beck has spent 14 years developing the survey into a nationally recognized benchmarking tool for the overall trucking industry, and her firm  partnered with National Tank Truck Carriers the last several years on a report exclusively tailored for tank truck carriers. Beck said at NTTC’s 2021 Annual Conference that more liquid and dry bulk haulers participated in last year’s survey than ever before.

Now she’s hoping to build on that record turnout.

The Iowa-based firm’s annual report features national benchmark data on driver and non-driver compensation, home time, turnover, paid time off (PTO), 401Ks, benefit plans and costs, containment strategies, and more—all specific to trucking.

Survey participation is free, and all motor carriers who complete the survey receive a free custom report. The survey is designed to collect only the most relevant and critical data, which Cottingham & Butler uses to generate valuable insights and strategies that help carriers improve their recruiting and retention efforts.

Upon completion of the survey, which typically takes about 30 minutes, participants also receive an instant link to the 2021 survey report. Specific company information is kept 100% confidential, and only aggregate data is shared or distributed.
