Service Transport Company boosts empty-mile pay

June 15, 2021
Adams Resources subsidiary’s second driver compensation adjustment in less than a year raises empty mileage rate by 18.4%

Service Transport Company is adjusting its company driver compensation package.

Effective June 19, all company drivers will see an 18.4% increase in Service Transport’s empty mileage rate as a result of feedback received from professional drivers in a recent survey.

The driver-pay adjustment is Service Transport’s second in less than a year.

“We are very happy to be able to accomplish this,”
said Wade Harrison, president of Service Transport, in a letter to company drivers.

Harrison said he was happy with the number of survey responses they received, and many company drivers mentioned empty-mile pay as a concern.

“Our drivers spoke, and we listened,” Harrison said.

“(The adjustment) will be applied to all levels of drivers, regardless of seniority or driver type (local, regional or over the road).

“We believe that this investment further enhances our overall compensation package for our professional drivers. We will maintain top-of-the-market loaded pay, zero free time for loading and unloading, and what we feel is one of the best safety bonus programs available in our industry.

“We will continue to evaluate our overall compensation package for our professional drivers, and the corresponding market conditions, and make adjustments that make sense for our workforce and our company.”
