ABC, employees claim SCTA honors

May 5, 2021
Veteran tank trailer mechanic Herman Lamb named state trucking association’s 2020 Technician of the Year

Herman Lamb, maintenance supervisor for Atlantic Bulk Carrier, recently was named the 2020 Technician of the Year by the South Carolina Trucking Association (SCTA).

The SCTA awards ceremony held April 27 in Columbia also recognized ABC driver Randy Wells as one of the drivers of the month for South Carolina, and Atlantic Bulk won first place in the truck safety awards in the bulk division.

Lamb started his professional maintenance career in the United States Air Force before starting his own maintenance service. He also worked as a school transportation maintenance technician and at another bulk carrier before joining Atlantic Bulk in 2015. Lamb now supervises two other technicians out of Atlantic Bulk’s terminal in Lexington SC. He was recognized for his years of experience, as well as his overall contributions to ABC as a mentor and supervisor to other mechanics and drivers.

A million-mile driver for Atlantic Bulk, Wells plans to retire later this year after nearly 16 years driving for ABC. Wells helped Atlantic Bulk grow its South Carolina operations over the past 13 years.

Atlantic Bulk Carrier, a regional carrier based out of Virginia, earned top honors for safe operations in the bulk division based on miles traveled in South Carolina and reportable accidents.
