Bulkmatic, one of the largest dry bulk transporters in North America, recently launched Bulkmatic Solutions, a nationwide brokerage and logistics management company focused on dry bulk supply chain solutions.
Bulkmatic Solutions was created as an in-house Bulkmatic company after the successful proof of concept accomplished through the Dry Bulk FR8 joint venture started earlier this year, Bulkmatic said. The new business will be headed by Ben Caplenor, an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience managing two of the largest brokerage and logistics businesses in the US.
“Throughout 2020, we saw a strong business case for the value of dry bulk brokerage and logistics solutions through our Dry Bulk FR8 joint venture,” said Chris Kravas, president of Bulkmatic. “That project was a highly successful proof of concept and as a result we’ve decided to go forward with an exclusively Bulkmatic company—Bulkmatic Solutions.”
Bulkmatic Solutions will offer shippers capacity alternatives for contractual and spot dry bulk transportation needs through its growing network of reliable and safe truckload carriers, according to the company.
After a successful 20-year track record of development and growth at primarily dry van brokerage operations, Caplenor wanted to create a new business that would provide transportation solutions in a more specialized and less developed part of the logistics space.
