Addition of Rome NY-based dry bulk carrier expands Terpening fleet by 15 trucks, 24 trailers, with more units coming in 2021

Syracuse NY-based petroleum hauler Terpening Trucking recently acquired Marocchi Trucking Company, a dry bulk carrier in Rome NY.

Terpening is a fourth-generation, family-owned company that’s been in business for more than 100 years. Richard Terpening Jr., and Craig Terpening head day-to-day operations for Terpening Trucking and sister company, Tri Tank Corp., a tank trailer repair facility and dealership for the Northeast.

Marocchi Trucking, founded in 1984 by Lou Marocchi Sr., has been run by owner and president Lou Marocchi Jr., since his father’s death in 2011.

Terpening operates a fleet of 135 trucks and 130 trailers serving all of New York, Northern Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio. Marocchi, which specializes in hauling cement, currently runs 15 trucks and 24 trailers that will be brought in under the Terpening umbrella and operated by Terpening’s management team, which now will include Lou Marocchi Jr.

The Terpening team, with the addition of Lou Jr., will focus on aggressive growth and expansion of the new venture, management said. Terpening currently has four new Freightliner trucks, along with four new LBT tri-axle cement trailers ordered to help jumpstart the endeavor in the spring of 2021.

“The Terpening family and staff are very excited to begin this next chapter with current Marocchi staff and customers,” the company said.
