Detroit DT12 transmission provided for DD13 engine

Oct. 15, 2013

Detroit Diesel Corporation announced that the Detroit DT12 automated manual transmission is available for the Freightliner Cascadia equipped with the Detroit DD13 engine. The DT12 combines the operational ease of an automatic with the efficiency of a manual transmission. Featuring a lighter weight, the DT12 paired with the DD13 engine is ideally suited for regional haul, pick-up and delivery applications.

The DT12 has performance features that further maximize efficiency, such as creep mode, which modulates the clutch to improve low-speed maneuverability. This makes backing up to a loading dock or maneuvering through tight city traffic easier. Skip Shift, which automatically skips gears, enables the transmission to run through lower gears faster to achieve cruising speed sooner.

The DT12 comes standard with a five-year/750,000-mile warranty, with a three-year/350,000-mile warranty on the clutch. The Detroit Customer Service network provides immediate access to maintenance information, and with hundreds of authorized locations in the United States and Canada, factory-trained technicians are always available.
