The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide dropped for a fifth straight week, declining 1.9 cents to $2.582 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information.
The price of trucking’s main fuel has retreated 9.2 cents in the past month, with the most recent price putting it $1.293 below the same week in 2008.
The least expensive region, the Gulf Coast, fell less than a penny to $2.518. The most costly area is still California at $2.792, with a 1.5-cent decrease.
