Michelin unveils X Multi Energy D2 regional drive tire

Michelin recently introduced the X Multi Energy D2 tire, which is engineered for the unique demands of regional haul operations.
Regional fleets contend with demanding road conditions, frequent stop-and-start driving cycles, and rising fuel costs that can significantly impact performance and profitability. Combining durability, fuel efficiency, and trusted performance, the new tire helps fleets maximize productivity while lowering their cost of operation, the company reported.

The updated model offers a new tread pattern and enhanced tread compound designed to improve resistance to tread damage caused by high-torque vehicles and stop-and-go driving. Additionally, it is built on Michelin’s Duracore casing, which incorporates Infinicoil and Powercoil technologies and a reinforced bead design (Duracoil Technology). The casing is built to last for up to 1 million miles and four retreads, Michelin indicated.
Improving rolling resistance by 9% from its predecessor, the X Multi Energy D, the tire is also 18% better than leading competitors, Michelin maintained. Furthermore, it improves late-life traction with 10% better wet handling and 16% better snow starting traction when worn.
For OEMs, the D2 also meets greenhouse gas standards, supporting applicable vehicle carbon-reduction requirements.
The X Multi Energy D2 is available today in 295/75R22.5 LRG and 11R22.5 LRG and LRH sizes, replacing the previous model in those sizes.
