Sage Mfg. is the newly formed parent company for the industrial brands Sage Oil Vac, Amarillo Tanks, and Amarillo Upfitters, a new business created to build custom work-ready service trucks.
The launch of Sage Mfg. and Amarillo Tanks coincides with a $21 million investment in facilities and infrastructure at a new 20-acre headquarters and manufacturing campus in Amarillo, Texas, the company reported. The move also reflects the operation’s growth from a single-product manufacturer into a diversified portfolio of businesses that service customers in the construction, agriculture, mining, transportation, energy, and industrial industries.
“Sage Mfg. represents the next step in our evolution,” Sage Mfg. CEO Aaron Sage said in a news release. “We’ve grown beyond the single company my father founded, now becoming a family of businesses that share a common purpose: helping hardworking people do their jobs more efficiently, more safely, and more profitably.”
Founded in 1993 by Gary Sage, Sage Oil today is a leading manufacturer of mobile lube equipment and preventive maintenance solutions used by fleets and heavy equipment operators throughout the world. Known for pioneering cleaner, safer, faster, and more efficient fluid exchange systems, Sage Oil continues to “set the standard” for equipment maintenance innovation, the company said.
Amarillo Tanks, acquired as Willborn Brothers in 2021, manufactures steel tanks and related products for commercial, industrial, and energy applications. The acquisition expanded Sage Mfg.’s manufacturing capabilities while strengthening vertical integration across the organization.
Amarillo Upfitters is a new vocational truck upfitting company built for contractors, municipalities, utilities, and fleet operators whose work depends on trucks that perform in the field from Day 1. It fills a gap in a fragmented market often served by generalist shops and template-driven builds, bringing engineering precision, technician-first design, and hands-on craftsmanship together to create custom service trucks designed to reduce downtime, improve productivity, and solve the operational challenges standard equipment cannot.
“Our goal is to build great companies that solve real-world problems,” Sage concluded. “Whether we’re developing maintenance equipment, manufacturing tanks, or delivering custom upfitting solutions, we’re focused on building the companies that build what’s next.”
