The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is offering two new wide-base tires for long-haul fleets that want to save fuel and help reduce truck downtime.
Available now, the Goodyear Fuel Max SSD drive and Goodyear Fuel Max SST trailer tires are important additions to Goodyear’s Total Solution of trusted products, reliable services and fleet management tools--all delivered by a nationwide network.
“The tires, both of which are SmartWay-verified, feature Goodyear Fuel Max Technology, which incorporates fuel-saving compounds with advanced tire constructions and tread designs for low rolling resistance,” said Mahesh Kavaturu, marketing manager, commercial long-haul and regional products.
In addition to Goodyear Fuel Max Technology, the Goodyear Fuel Max SSD and Goodyear Fuel Max SST contain Goodyear DuraSeal Technology, which helps seal punctures of up to ¼-inch in diameter in the repairable area of the tires’ tread. (DuraSeal does not seal sidewall punctures.)
“Goodyear DuraSeal Technology, which is the only commercial truck tire sealant that is built into the tire during the manufacturing process, helps reduce truck downtime,” said Kavaturu.
The new Goodyear Fuel Max SSD and Goodyear Fuel Max SST wide-base tires share other features, including:
• A special tread compound for enhanced fuel economy;
• An optimized tread design and tire footprint for even wear and long miles to removal.
In addition, the Goodyear Fuel Max SSD features wide grooves with stone ejectors, which help resist stone drilling to promote casing durability; Goodyear Tredlock Technology with interlocking microgrooves to help stabilize the tire’s tread for high mileage; and an open shoulder design for all-season traction.
Both the Goodyear Fuel Max SSD and Goodyear Fuel Max SST are available in size 445/50R22.5 through the Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Network, which encompasses more than 2,300 Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Centers and independent, authorized Goodyear commercial tire dealerships throughout the United States and Canada.
