Heil Trailer International celebrated its 25th anniversary of supporting the National Tank Truck Carriers' safety awards program. Specifically, Heil sponsors the Outstanding Performance Trophy.

Dave Fellows, a retired Heil regional and engineering manager, presented this year's trophy to Trimac Transportation at the NTTC annual conference May 18-20 in New York City. Fellows presented the first Heil-sponsored trophy to Rogers Cartage in 1983, according to Bill Harris, Heil marketing manager and event coordinator.

Andy Fincher, Heil president and chief executive officer, introduced Fellows during the safety awards breakfast. Fellows is a professional engineer and started with Heil in 1951. During his tenure, Fellows championed many projects that ultimately elevated Heil to status as a premier supplier to the tank truck industry, Fincher said. The Department of Transportation holds Fellows in high regard, and Fellows continues to provide extensive engineering and expert opinions on cargo tank issues.

To commemorate the 25 years of safety sponsorship and support to NTTC, Heil's past presidents and their wives were invited to New York City for a special presidents' dinner and to participate in the safety award ceremony. The group included Bob Foster and his wife Linda, Larry Gray, Dick Fridl and his wife Florence, and Don Allen and his wife Nancy.
