The Intermodal Tank Container Association (ITCA) welcomed more than 300 people, including shippers from around the world, to its 2018 Intermodal Bulk Liquid Symposium on Thursday, Nov. 8, at Waters Edge in El Lago TX.

“This year was by far our biggest event,” said Frieda Lolley, ITCA founder and president.

The annual gathering of business experts in the intermodal industry included executives representing shippers, ports, rails, truckers, depots, cleaning facilities, leasing companies, tank operators, surveying companies, ocean carriers and freight forwarders, and several presentations on timely topics.

Anthony Bova, general manager of Silver/CIMS Inspections Services, provided a regulations and compliance update with a focus on correctly identifying tank containers for international shipping.

Bryan Markland, the emergency response and security manager for Lucite International—and a 12-year veteran of the US Coast Guard—discussed his company’s response to ISO container emergencies.

Steve Bourque, president of Bourque Logistics, and Tank and Container Management Systems (TCMS), shared best practices his company developed for managing tank and bulk product logistics.

Finally, RECA Petroleum Solutions’ Mercy Renteria, executive director of business development, capped the day’s presentations with an overview of the emerging oil and gas market in Mexico.

Ron Beeson, global transportation and logistics manager for The Lubrizol Corporation, and Steve Benet, VSP Technologies’ deputy director for bulk transport equipment, kept the symposium on track.
