Vopak to build new Amsterdam terminal

Koninklijke Vopak NV (Royal Vopak) plans to construct a second oil terminal in the Port of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with an initial capacity of 720,000 cubic meters. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2007 with completion in mid-2008, according to Royal Vopak, assuming permits are granted.

Although the terminal will be used primarily for gasoline storage, other products will be handled, including biofuels, gas oil, and diesel. The company will eventually expand the terminal to 1.1-million- cubic-meter capacity. The terminal site, leased from the Amsterdam Port Authority, will be in Westpoort in the western area of the Afrikahaven harbor.
