This marks the 15th year that Volvo Trucks North America Inc and Mack Trucks employees at New River Valley Plant in Dublin VA participated in the Rolling Thunder — Ride For Freedom rally. The event, held in Washington DC on Memorial Day weekend, honors American military personnel killed or missing in action. Despite rainy weather, about 225 motorcyclists made the trip from NRV to Washington this year.

A Volvo VN 670 with decals commemorating the sacrifices of American veterans led the motorcade of NRV employees on motorcycles to Washington. Prior to driving to Washington, the truck was on display at a special memorial ceremony May 28 at United Autoworkers Local 2069's union hall in Dublin. The Volvo VN and the employees then participated May 29 in the national parade in Washington.

A special Mack Vision model produced in tribute to this country's veterans participated in the Ride for Freedom event. The Mack vehicle features a collage of images from Desert Storm, Iraq Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Ride for Freedom, and POW/MIA “All gave some … Some gave all” decals.
