USFilter has acquired the United States operations of Houston TX-based Scaltech, a provider of refinery waste treatment. Under terms of the agreement, USFilter will manage Scaltech's operations through its USFilter Operating Services division. This includes its 14 US industrial outsourcing contracts.

Scaltech provides technology-based outsourcing services to the refining industry. The company designs, builds, and operates proprietary on-site systems to provide waste management and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste material. Its patented technologies and expertise reduce overall waste management costs for refineries through more efficient processing and recycling of waste streams.

Jim Gentry, vice-president of Scaltech, will join USFilter Operating Services as vice-president and general manager of USFilter-Scaltech and continue to lead Scaltech and manage the company's 125 employees from its Houston headquarters. Further terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
