Tank trailer production dropped by more than a third in 2001, but the sector performed better than the trailer manufacturing industry as a whole. Production of tank trailers and dry bulkers fell 37% compared with 2000, according to the latest survey from Economic Planning Associates Inc (EPA). In contrast, total trailer manufacturing was off 45.5%. EPA reported total 2001 trailer shipments of 145,400 units, compared with 266,100 units in 2000.
