The United States Senate has confirmed Linda J Fisher as deputy administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Fisher will be the top managerial and policy assistant to administrator Christine Whitman. She has a decade of experience at EPA, from 1983 to 1993, serving as chief of staff; assistant administrator for policy, planning, and evaluation; and assistant administrator for prevention, pesticides, and toxic substances.

From 1995 to 2000, Fisher was vice-president and corporate officer at the Monsanto Co in St Louis MO. She also practiced law with the Washington DC law firm of Latham and Watkins.
