GATX Logistics Inc has been accepted for membership in the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care partnership program. To become a partner of Responsible Care, a company must demonstrate its commitment to environmental, health, and safety responsibility in managing chemical products. The packaged chemicals market is an end-use specialization of GATX.

At the heart of the Responsible Care initiative are six codes of management practices. These codes focus on management practices in specific operational areas. Members and partners must make continuous progress in attaining goals of each code. The codes provide for emergency response planning, waste management and reduction, accident preventiveness, proper handling and transportation of chemical products, community outreach, and related training.

Founded in 1974, GATX Logistics has expanded its service portfolio to manage a greater portion of the supply chain. Services offered range from warehousing support and freight management to information technology and value-added functions. The company recently launched a full-service eLogistics initiative. GATX Logistics is jointly owned by Oak Hill Capital Partners LP, the Stephens Group Inc, and GATX Corp.

Responsible Care, an initiative of the American Chemistry Council, represents leading chemical industry companies.
